About E.L. Montague

E.L. Montague writes gritty science fiction, fantasy, and horror with a dark twist. He speculates on the nature of humanity through stories of the android awakening, the consequences of magic, and the horrible things we do to one another. His work is meant for adults, and he doesn't hold back. He wades right in with sex, violence, and provocative content. Look for his Near-Earth science fiction series focused on the colonial expansion of humanity in the context of an android awakening, Stories of the Temere – an epic fantasy that spans continents and lifetimes, and his Seaward Island series focused on the criminal underground of supernatural beings.

Montague has earned 6 honorable mentions and 2 silver honorable mentions in The Writers of the Future contest. He was also a finalist in the Speculative Fiction Indie Novella Championship for his story To Catch a Witch.

His day job provides him with a wealth of experiences to inform his stories, not the least of which is travel. He writes from planes, trains, and hotel rooms when he’s not able to write from his home in Texas. His short stories have appeared in magazines and anthologies going back to the mid-nineties, but he took the indie leap in the fall of 2020. Since then he has published nine books, including novels, novellas, and collections of his own work. He has plans for three more books in 2026 and more in 2027. Two of them are with the readers now. You might also find yourself reading stories by other names and think - this feels like E.L. Montague. He writes under several names, but that’s for another day.
